Aberle, T.: EDR for motorcycles, advantageous in terms of cost

EVU 2012 Brasov AberleAccident Research Department of the AXA Winterthur developed in collaboration with an English firm of electrical ware a Crash Recorder (Recorder of collisions) advantageous in terms of costs for cars. Basic goals of development were meant to obtain an advantageous device in terms of cost, advantageous assembly / disassembly operating and maintenance costs and no permanent monitoring of the driver. For this reason the use of a GPS signal has been dropped. Such premises gave rise to the Crash Recorder. The Crash Recorder has been offered since 2008 in addition to car insurance. The main advantages for the customer are insured safety through legislation in an accident and a discount for the young drivers (car drivers aged between 18 and 25 years). Based on the high demand of Crash Recorders, the Accident Research department decided to develop for two-wheeled motor vehicle a data recording apparatus with similar advantages to the customer. From literature it is known that approx. In 72% of accidents involving motorcycles with third parties, the misconduct is not brought about by motorcycle riders.
